Baked Apple Donuts
The baked apple doughnuts

to coat the dough in lots of cinnamon sugar, and then baked them so they
are still soft on the inside and have a wonderful sugar crust on the

The ingredients of baked apple donuts
Batter:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup vegetable shortening
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
2 cups cored and finely diced apples
Topping:
½ cup butter, melted
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

★ Mix the first 6 ingredients with a fork. Add the shortening and mix until broken up. Set aside.
★ In another bowl combine the eggs, milk and diced apples. Add to the dry ingredients just until blended.
★ Spoon them into greased muffin pans or mini donut pans. Bake at 350
degrees for 20-25 minutes for the muffins and 10 minutes for the mini
donuts.
★ While the donuts are baking, melt 1/2 cup butter. Set aside.
★ Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. When donuts are done and
before they have had a chance to cool, dip them in butter and then in
cinnamon sugar mixture.
